Launch Night

Would have loved to have gone to the 140 Launch last night - instead I was stuck at the shops, waiting to get my car towed after it broke down!

Let me tell you, there is nothing worse! 

Of course, to cheer myself up about it today, Im heading down to the post office to pick up my new cuff!!

I got this cute starfish cuff in silver. If you want one - Haute on High is selling them for $45 - search them on facebook for more info.

Vibrant pop-up village opens at 140

                                                                                      

A
lively community of artists, retailers and special guests gathered at
140 in the City last night to celebrate the effervescent official
opening of the 140 Pop-up Project.

The astroturf lined laneway of eclectic pop-up studios including Zara Bryson, Father, Miss Brown Vintage, Pigeonhole, We Heart Vintage, William Topp, Andy Quilty and All Of The Above Creative was alive with the sights and sounds of sideshow alley inspired theming and in-store activities.

Highlights of the opening included acoustic guitar sets by ‘Cleo Bachelor of the Year’ finalist, Ben Swift and Zara Bryson’s own singer/songwriter, Amrit Sidhu.

At the neighbouring Miss Brown Vintage pop-up a caricaturist sketched guests styled in their favourite vintage era, whilst an air of style and glamour engulfed the We Heart Vintage
pop-up as spirited shoppers sipped sparkling, indulged in chocolate
fondue and browsed the store’s unique collection of vintage garments and
accessories.

The 140 Pop-up Project
is the first pop-up community of its kind and scale in the Perth CBD
and is set to provide consumers with an entirely new shopping
experience.

“Our
challenge was to create an innovative concept, unique to 140 which
would excite and engage our customers with the kaleidoscope of amazing
independent retail and artistic talent right here in Perth,” 140 Marketing Manager Kristi Dempster said.

“We
identified strong consumer interest in the pop-up concept and looked to
the UK and US who had successfully hosted similar projects.
Consequently, the 140 Pop-up Project was born to inject a fresh and fun perspective into Perth’s retail landscape,” Ms Dempster said.

Located on the ground floor of 140, the 140 Pop-up Project opening hours are: Mon-Thu (10am-6pm), Fri – (10am–8pm), Sat – (10am-5pm) and Sun – (12pm-5pm).

The Start of Perth Fashion Festival!!

Today is the much anticipated Popsicle launch, the start of Perth Fashion
festival.

Popsicle is the popup store full of retail goodies – from some great WA
labels.

Perth Fashion Festival - Beyond Garment Launch!

Last night was the amazing Beyond Garment launch held at new Fremantle Maritime
Museum. Firstly, if you haven't seen this venue, I highly recommend you get
down and have a look. The architecture and set up is great! Big thanks to all
the staff last night as well who kept food and drinks flowing all night ( The canapés
were delightful, and I have to say I’ve never had pumpkin mousse topped with
popcorn before!)

The exhibition is fantastic, with designers such as Antipodium, Alister
Yiap, Martini+Coz and many more.

You may have seen some of Yiaps works before, he has been in the newspaper
a couple of times in the last few weeks with fashion and jewellery lovers wowed
by his designs.

Secondly, and more importantly, this exhibition is Free. So there’s really
no excuse for you not to get down and have a look.

“Beyond Garment investigates the boundaries of fashion beyond the ‘frock’.
It explores fashion pieces not just as accessories for the body but as forms of
art within their own right”

New Store Launch!

Last night was the Eighth Sin store launch – this awesome store is now
amongst some of the best shops in the CBD, Perth really is getting better and
better! If you haven't been into the city lately or need some retail therapy, I
recommend you get down to One40William. Right over the underground train
station so easy to get to as well.

One40William really is the place to be in the city – it has heaps of cool
stores and elevators and its really new as well, its a massive building you
really will not miss it! Anyway, enough about architecture.

The launch went really well, despite the cold night! (its practically
September, hurry up hot weather) Free champagne (now you wished you came) lots
of Perth’s most fashionable people! Fashion Heir doing promotion and
photography and a whole lot of other organisational stuff as well, with some videography
action as well!

*Is that a word? You know what I mean.

The models from Scene were fantastic, some great new talent, theyre really
stepping it up. A lot of the girls have so much potential! The advertising campaign at the moment features Sarah Chout - who has been a bit of a flavour of the month of late, winning Face of Perth 2010, you can be sure to see more and more of her, especially in the Perth Fashion Festival (Which is so close!!)

Although it didn’t seem to work for me, maybe my browser or something. The
one page came up and then everything else froze :S Maybe the traffic on their
site is too overwhelming after such a great launch :)
